Pat yourselves on the back because we did it!
In 4 days, the project met our $8,000 goal. Pretty darn good! I was confidant that we would make the goal (it is a very modest goal) the question for me was when. Since we have 39 days left this puts us in a great position to move forward.
So what's next?
1. Stretch Goals. I'm working on what those are and when they unlock. I have ideas and once i get back from SDCC I will post them. Stretch goals can be tricky and there have been many creators that have lost money and went in the negative because of stretch goals being too crazy. I want to do something creative, fits with the story and fun. Adding pages to the story I think is the best stretch goal I can do. Updating the book into hardcovers or new formats will most likely not happen because I am using a print-on-demand printer, which has little customizability. If we move to an overseas off-set printer I could add all those bells and whistles, but then we are talking about a goal of 20,000+ to make that happen. Trust me, I'd LOVE to do that, so if we go really high, I will look into that for sure. So next week look for stretch goals!
2. Promote! If any of you are in the comic book industry or have access to people in the press, please let me know. I'd love to get more coverage. I've reached out to my press contacts, but with SDCC this week, nothing will happen for a week at least. Social media and direct emailing helps our team, so if you can help with that, wonderful!
3. Jose and I will continue working on the book. There's a lot to do and I'll be breaking that down to you soon.
